Youth Development Programs
MOAPPP supports evidence-based youth development programs that develop individual characteristics and support protective factors that reduce the risk of adolescent pregnancy. These programs help teens develop their talents, interests, and long-term goals. Most importantly, they show promise in preventing teen pregnancy. In particular, service-learning programs show the strongest evidence of reducing teen pregnancy rates while youth participate. 10
MOAPPP's Vision
State funding is provided and maintained to implement youth development programs, particularly service-learning programs, that are based on best practices and evidence-based results and have been proven to reduce teen pregnancy.
Legislative and Policy Agenda
MOAPPP will support funding for youth development programs that have been shown to prevent adolescent pregnancy. MOAPPP will oppose any further proposed funding cuts for remaining youth development programming.
