The Senate Education Committee passed SF851 on Tuesday, March 25, 2003. The bill, introduced by Senator Mee Moua (DFL – St. Paul) would ensure schools teach comprehensive, technically accurate sexual health curriculum. Minnesota Council of NonProfits’ Budget Analysis Survey

Does the Governor’s Budget Proposal impact your organization? We need your help! The Minnesota Council of Nonprofits is currently working to analyze the Governor’s FY 2004-05 budget proposal. In order to determine the impact of these cuts on the community, MCN is asking nonprofit organizations that receive grants or contracts from the state to complete a brief survey. By sharing this information with MCN, we can work to demonstrate the cumulative impact of these cuts on Minnesota’s quality of life. Deleted for Budgetary Reasons

The Minneapolis Foundation and the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits have launched a new advertising campaign, “Deleted for Budgetary Reasons”. USE IT! “Deleted for Budgetary Reasons” encourages Minnesotans to consider the impact of proposed budget cuts on our quality of life. The campaign aims to promote genuine public dialogue about strategies for addressing the budget deficit and making the best possible choices for Minnesota. Print advertisements began appearing in newspapers throughout Minnesota this week. Radio ads will follow in April. Feel free to download and distribute these ads — including reprinting them in organizational newsletters and other communications. Please do not alter the copy or visuals in any way. Talented Youth of Color College Seniors Wanted for Summer Program at Harvard

The Summer Venture in Management Program (SVMP) seeks to expose talented youth of color who have just completed their junior year of college to general management in the business world. During one week in June, at no expense to the student, Harvard Business School hosts these college students and provides teaching instruction from leading faculty, on campus housing, and different seminars/events that introduce the students to business education. These students are immersed in a rigorous and stimulating classroom environment that mirrors the learning environment of Harvard’s MBA Program. May Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month Activities

The National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy will be hosting a free webchat to discuss and share organizing ideas on the National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy on Monday, April 7, 2003, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, EDT. A brief ten-minute overview of the 2003 National Day will be provided, and then participants will be asked to join one of three “break out sessions” in order to talk about specific topics of interest to the field.
